How to tie your Kuwagata

We recommend to have the hair done up in a bun for this.
- Iron the cloth and fold it twice in order to have 3 layers.

- Fold it once more in the centre and fix it by ironing it.
*In the end, fix the inside with double-sided tape.

- Fold once lengthwise. Again, use the iron.
Put the cloth at your forehead, with the edges facing backwards, bring them to the back of your head. Cross them above the bun.
Bring the right side to the left. Bring the left side to the right, inside. Tuck both ends inside.
Done! Both edges can also be made to stick out, just as shown in the picture.

How to tie the Kenka-Kaburi
Place the cloth on your head, centred. Twist the edges equally on both sides.
Now put the twisted edges behind your head and cross them symmetrically, as if you wanted to tie a knot. Fix both edges properly by sticking them in above the bun.
If the wrinkles fall equally on both sides, the Kenka-Kaburi is done! The back may also be folded once more if desired.

How to tie the Maki-Kaburi
This style used to be worn by the festival musicians in former times.

Wrap the cloth around your head in order to cover all hair. Knot it on the back of your head, near the ears. Lift the cloth. Fold in on the forehead, prevent cut edges.
Cover the hair holding the edges up to adjust if necessary. Knot the edges carefully together.
Done! Seen from the side, the cloth forms a straight line, with the back of the head looking a bit higher than the rest.

How to tie a Nejiri
A powerful style that goes well with the hair close-cropped at the back. Long hair should be tied back for this.
Twist the cloth and place it on your head, with the edges crossing each other on the back. Make them intertwine and stick out, as demonstrated in the picture.

How to tie a Dochu-Kaburi
A style that can often be seen in history dramas. Simply put, this is a cloth used as hat. This can be used for vivid and daring designs that do not go well with the Kuwagata and Nejiri.

Iron a cloth carefully and roll it thoroughly, with the middle hole being the size of your head. Fold the edges inside in order to get a triangular space on top of the head, as shown on the picture.
Fold the cloth once more, as shown in the picture. Wear it like a hat. Ready!
